For candidates:

Miranda Cortez

Miranda Cortez

Client Services Special Projects Manager (she/her/ella)

As a young woman of color and the granddaughter of Mexican immigrants, I am acutely aware of the institutionalized discrimination and systemic exclusion that keeps people of color from participating and thriving in spaces not historically meant for us.

I began my career in the classroom and transitioned into recruitment, motivated by the opportunity to pair students with teachers and mentors who better represented them. I quickly learned that overcoming barriers of inequity in the classroom is only part of it. In each new stage of life, systems of oppression persist. The challenges for people of color in the workplace begin long before they’re hired. Knowing this, I remain committed to challenging inequitable hiring practices and advocating for underestimated candidates.”

  • Miranda served as a Fellow in New York City with Saga Education – a national nonprofit working to close the opportunity gap for Black and Brown students.
  • After her year of service, Miranda was invited back to Saga Education to be part of their national recruitment team.
  • Miranda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo, and is currently working on her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at  Santa Clara University.

Miranda lives with her partner and their pug, Harlem. Outside of work, she enjoys farmers markets, paddleboarding, and dinner dates with family and friends

Put your values to work. Act on equity.

We believe equity isn’t a box to check. It’s a daily action. Someone’s unique identity isn’t something to overcome–when paired with the right opportunity, it becomes one of their greatest professional assets. We exist to empower social impact organizations to recognize and overcome unconscious bias, racism and sexism so they can build a workforce that reflects and strengthens the communities they serve.
