“I have been fortunate that my career journey has taken me from the tree view to the full forest view of ways to serve students, families and communities throughout Philadelphia. Whether in my role as teacher, postsecondary advisor, administrator or in talent and recruitment I have learned that there is nothing more important than forging relationships with people and organizations that are mission driven and equity focused. At Edgility I will be able to continue my journey of serving schools and communities across the country.”

  • Before joining Edgility, Mara helped to build the Talent Outreach and Marketing function at Mastery Schools of Philadelphia and Camden.
  • Mara began her career at Mastery Schools in 2002 as a Humanities teacher, was a Postsecondary Advisor and then the Assistant Director of Postsecondary Initiatives supporting Postsecondary advising teams at six of Mastery’s Philadelphia high schools.
  • Mara holds a BA from Penn State University in Comparative Literature and a M.Ed. in Secondary Literature from Temple University.

Mara lives in Philadelphia, PA with her wife, twins, 2 dogs and an unknown quantity of fish. She spends her free time walking the dogs in Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Park, reading copious amounts of SciFi and Fantasy novels and shuffling kids to activities like theater, dance and ninja warrior training.

Put your values to work. Act on equity.

We believe equity isn’t a box to check. It’s a daily action. Someone’s unique identity isn’t something to overcome–when paired with the right opportunity, it becomes one of their greatest professional assets. We exist to empower social impact organizations to recognize and overcome unconscious bias, racism and sexism so they can build a workforce that reflects and strengthens the communities they serve.
