For candidates:

Travonnie Mackey

Travonnie Mackey

Associate Partner (she/her/hers)

“As an inquisitive teen, I asked my mom why we were looking at houses we couldn’t really afford. She explained that the opportunities I’d have at the school in this neighborhood were better than those offered in more affordable areas. Developing that understanding at such a young age set me on a pathway to be an advocate for people who aren’t given what they need to succeed. As a mom of two black boys and one daughter who have the privilege and burden of growing up in America, I have a sense of urgency around correcting the systems that were developed to restrict access for my children and so many others.”

  • Before joining Edgility, Travonnie revamped a talent function at a national education advocacy organization with a lens on equitable systems and staff support.
  • As an HR Business Partner, and former Director of Learning & Development, she overhauled the performance management system, built a coaching and training model and oversaw the DEI council’s efforts to deliver on the organization’s commitment to anti-racism.
  • She holds a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State and Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Howard University.

Travonnie lives just north of Nashville, Tennessee with her husband and three children. They spend lots of nights and weekends at kids sporting events and birthday parties. Apart from that, you can find her enjoying her extended family over yummy food, catching up on the latest Netflix hits, or getting creative with diy projects from Pinterest.

Put your values to work. Act on equity.

We believe equity isn’t a box to check. It’s a daily action. Someone’s unique identity isn’t something to overcome–when paired with the right opportunity, it becomes one of their greatest professional assets. We exist to empower social impact organizations to recognize and overcome unconscious bias, racism and sexism so they can build a workforce that reflects and strengthens the communities they serve.
