What are you most excited to accomplish in your new role?
Growing a team that provides increased impact for clients. Reaching more clients and changing the status quo in compensation and talent management.
What are 2-3 biggest lessons you’ve learned on your journey to becoming a leader at Edgility?
1) You can’t have equity without clarity. It’s crucial that leaders pause and set clear expectations and vision for the path forward to set staff up for success. Only with transparency about your beliefs and commitments can leadership can be held accountable for doing right by people.
2) Creating psych safety is paramount. If you lead a diverse team that’s not comfortable being honest with you, you never truly benefit from that diversity. Diversity without inclusion doesn’t cut it. Create safe space by ensuring people feel seen and heard. Be predictable, vulnerable and accountable to build real trust. Then you’ll truly have a team that pushes you forward as a leader.
How do you hope to advance equity in your new role?
We are building really strong tools to help clients think beyond equity in compensation and hiring. In my new role, we will also help clients mitigate inconsistency in the way they attract, engage, grow and assess their talent. We’re helping clients walk the talk in all aspects of the talent life cycle and build inclusive policy that folks are bought into.
What are a few things you love about the communities you serve?
I love working with mission-driven organizations. You’ve never met a more passionate group of individuals. I love helping them figure out what it takes to keep passionate people on their teams so that they can be about the work and remove barriers to equity and and inclusion.
