“I was drawn to this work because growing up in Bronx, NY I learned at an early age to be my mother’s advocate and translator and to assist her with navigating human services, housing, community, and education systems. I realized that I was representing my family and needed to be strong to make sure our needs were met in systems that were difficult to navigate particularly for people of color at that time. My mother encouraged us to pursue higher education so we can obtain a solid career, become financially independent, and not depend on anyone. I’m grateful for my mother’s endless support and tenacity. She’s proud to have three professionals working in the government, technology, and HR/consulting sectors and thriving in their careers and personal lives. With these humble beginnings, I’m driven to make a difference in our communities and the next generation by actively participating in closing the equity gap so that their dreams can come true, too.”
