“A third-generation educator, the power of education as transformational was instilled in me from a young age and I was fortunate to attend well-resourced and well-staffed schools as a child. After college, I taught high school in a small, rural community in south Texas and experienced the inequities my students faced up close. This experience was transformational for me. As a mother of three girls, I work every day to increase outcomes for students and historically marginalized communities in service of a different and better future for all.”
- Before joining Edgility, Julie was spent eight years at Teach For America as the Senior Managing Director, Offer Strategy and led a team focused on improving the programmatic and technical experiences of leaders considering joining the movement for educational equity in 50 region across the country.
- As the Manager, District and School Partnerships at Teach For America- Rio Grande Valley, Julie partnered with over a dozen school districts on their hiring and talent development and supported a cohort of 200 teachers in earning their Texas teaching license.
- She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from Amherst College and a Secondary Education Certificate from South Texas College.
Julie lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband, three daughters, and two dogs. Outside of work, you can find her chaos coordinating, playing ice hockey, running, and eating pizza and tacos. She also enjoys organizing her pantry and listening to true crime podcasts.
