Charter Leaders: Your Role is Complex. You Deserve Support and Coaching to Thrive

By Nina Bhatia

When people ask me what my hardest job has been, the answer is easy: being a school leader.  It’s a multi-faceted, complex role.  It’s like being the producer, the stage manager, and the crew, and performing on stage for a play in front of an audience of hundreds every day.  Being a school leader means building and sustaining positive staff culture and attracting and retaining top talent. Being a school leader means building strong partnerships with parents and families, abiding by state and federal laws on a daily basis, and holding adults accountable.  And with the constant need to do more with less, managing budgets has become a masterclass in financial acumen.  Oh, let’s not forget the reason for it all, the center of the work for schools:  making sure that students are college ready, which includes addressing and remedying learning gaps.

Like I said: multi-faceted and complex.

Summer is a golden opportunity for reflection and planning for what’s ahead. It’s a critical moment for educators to step back, recharge, and catch their breaths. This summer, Edgility is offering a special charter leader cohort and coaching opportunity to school leaders by giving them the opportunity to reflect, plan, and strategize with like-minded peers.  Leadership can be lonely, and the cohort model gifts leaders with a safe space to share their challenges and build a support network of people who are on the same path. Specialized, 1:1 coaching allows leaders to grow, ask questions, and learn from a dedicated and personable coach.   More than ever, school leaders need to put themselves first and fill their own cups, so they are refreshed when the new school year begins. Make the time to prioritize your learning, learn new strategies, and lean on your peers.  Join us for our summer cohort.

“It was in college that I learned about America’s inequitable educational systems. Why do some children attend schools and benefit from systems that maximize their potential, and others get left behind? As a result, I have spent my career focused on changing that reality.”
